Maya feels at home with her family, but her appearance constantly raises questions. Strangers ask why her skin is brown while her family's is white. When a supermarket employee fails to recognize her as part of her family, it hits her hard. But instead of retreating, she writes a song to share her story. MAYA’S SONG is a film about adoption, acceptance and the longing to be seen—not for the color of one’s skin, but for who one truly is.

Series for all kids on bullying and social exclusion in schools | 2D animation
EP1 - How can we be happy together?
Lisa is not doing well in her class because she is being excluded from play. She is not the only one who feels this way. Many children experience hurtful things at school and do not feel safe. In the laws it says that all children have the right to feel safe and well in their class. If children are not doing well, adults must help and not give up until the hurtful things stop and everyone is doing well. In this episode, we see how children and adults can work together to create a positive classroom environment.
EP2 - Helping each other
Anton dreads going to school. He is often not allowed to join in the play (building huts, football, or other activities). Nadia doesn't like it when they exclude Anton. But she doesn’t know what she can do to help. Nadia is also afraid of being left out. In fact, many kids in Anton’s class feel the same way. No one feels completely safe. Is there someone who can help the class? This episode is based on recent Scandinavian research on bullying and offers fresh perspectives on how it can be addressed and stopped—by both children and adults.
EP3 - To be made invisible
Rati feels invisible in her class, because no one listens when she speaks or makes suggestions. No one answers when she asks questions. Fortunately, there is someone who can help — someone who has experienced the same thing, because many children know what it’s like to feel invisible. This episode was developed in collaboration with the NGO Save the Children and a group of leading experts in Norway, based on the most up to date research on social exclusion and bullying. It both provides insight and offers fresh perspectives on how it can be addressed and stopped.
EP4 – What do you need to take part? (WORKING TITLE)
Children with disabilities experience most exclusion and bullying. The UN Convention (CRPD) has clear guidelines for same rights for all. It is crucial to tell also children about this. Vinni, a boy with a disability, is often excluded even though he could join in with small adaptations, if only someone asked. When a new student notices this, he starts to question why. The film encourages children to understand inclusion as a right and to ask: “What do you need to take part?” Good intentions aren’t enough, participation matters. Respect, and equal opportunities for all children is important to be made a reality.
